Creality K2 Plus<\/h4>\n\n\n\n


I have been printing several days now with my K2Plus. Printing results have been outstanding. It\u2019s too early to start shouting praise from the rooftops. But my first impression is very good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


I do not have the Creality CFS filament swapping system. I ordered one with the printer but it wasn\u2019t the bundled special introductory sale where the CFS was included packaged inside the printer. I don\u2019t know where they found the space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The printer is heavy 107 pounds shipping weight without the CFS. 77 pounds setting here in my workspace. It\u2019s all an old man (78) like me wants to wrestle getting into place. I have a nice 11 inch high print stand with wheels that I consider perfect for the K2Plus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Disposing of all the packing materials was as hard as setting up the printer for operation. Not quite 100% true as there was a bit of a shipping damage problem. The left front foot pad had broken loose in shipping and I had to do some repairs. The tiny bolt used to hold on the foot had broken in shear between the printer case and the foot. In use the bolt is adequate but to withstand shipping it needs to be at least 3X the diameter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


I also own and run the Creality K1C. A kind of \u201clittle brother\u201c to the K2Plus. But the K2Plus is not just a bigger version of the K1C. Bigger yes, Same no.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The print nozzles are NOT the same. The K2Plus has a longer version. I am sure the wattage of the nozzle heater is much higher as well. The K2Plus comes up to print temperature very quickly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The print bed leveling \u201cdance\u201d is also quite different.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


There is a new breed of drive motors in the K2Plus that provide position feedback to the control program. Not actual printhead movement or position but motor shaft movement and position. I have worked with \u201creal\u201d synchro\/servo systems in the U.S. Navy on gun mounts. This system is more like the servos of R\/C model systems. Definitely an improvement than blind sending a string of pulses. However, the standard stepper system has long provided exceptional control. It ain\u2019t broke, just blind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Looking forward to the CFS filament change system. I don\u2019t have plans for 16 colors online. I have had several color change FDM printers, so it is not a new experience. The \u201cyank and push\u201d swap will be new but I already see the manual filament change with just one spool is much improved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


I will certainly have much more to say when I get to \u201cplay\u201d with the CFS. More comments later!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
